Hello, Go for Acer 5740G only as this is a real value for money. NOthing compared to this.
I visited Croma and saw this model and compared it with Sony Vaio EB14/16.
I far outshines the Vaio models with its features. Battery is 2.5 hrs but I guess its the max u can get with 15.6 display with 1 gb graphics card.
Let me know what you think about it

Personally I think Acer laptops are pretty good in performance. The brand is not at all cheap, their products are, most probably because they are a Taiwanese company (like other great ones including HTC & BenQ), and are made in China. But in the coming years, as they gain more marketshare, they would probably also charge a premium just like HTC.

Dude, you bought a 5740, and not a 5740G. So obviously you wouldn’t have gotten a gfx card. 5740 only has integrated intel gfx. But the thing is that you’d also paid less for it. But if you think that you have been charged for 5740G instead, then you have every right to complain.

I just bought my Acer Aspire 5740G yesterday. It was definitely worth the most bang for the buck. though mine came with the ati 5470 display card instead, i’m not complaining as it has Intel Core-i5 for that price range and DDR3 ram and 15.6″ screen. the stereo quality is superb too
I was just surprised there was this machine out there for my budget. lucky i shopped around many many shops and waited till the last minute until i found this machine. Anyways this was in Hong Kong, so i don’t think they’ll steal your graphics card.
i bought the 5740 a yesterday but when i opened it i found no ati graphics card in it,insted an intel graphics card. i feel cheated and i want it replaced as i have’nt used it till now.
does it really have the ati 5650, or rather the 5470?
