After Airtel’s “Free” 4G data plan, Vodafone too has launched a free 4G offer to compete with the Reliance Jio’s free services till the end of this year. Vodafone is offering free 9GB 4G data per month to new 4G handset owners with the following condition:
“Subscriber who has purchased NEW 4G HANDSET during the Offer Period and inserted the Vodafone India SIM and is active on a 4G data pack or on a 3G data pack of 1GB or more in 4G/3G Circles”
But in actual, it is applicable to even existing Vodafone subscribers with old 4G smartphones and without any 1GB+ data plan activation!
Terms & Conditions
In 4G Circles – 9GB 4G data if the subs recharges with 1GB or above Pack (usage on 4G network only )
In 3G Circles – 9GB 3G data if the subs recharges with 1GB or above Pack only in night from 12 AM till 6 am (usage on 4G handset only)
The 9GB data usage may be used for any internet usage, post the free usage the Eligible Subscriber would be charged 4p/10KB for those who have subscribed to Pay As You Go Tariff, or (b) at Prevailing Pack Tariff in a case already subscribed to any of the Vodafone India Internet Packs.
“4G Circles” shall mean the following circles, wherein Vodafone India has requisite 4G license viz. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata.
“3G Circles” shall mean the following circles, wherein Vodafone India has their own 3G license viz. , Uttar Pradesh (West) ,Uttar Pradesh(East) , Haryana,Karnataka,Gujrat, West Bengal ,Kerala , Tamilnadu , Maharashtra & Goa , Assam, North East states, Rajasthan .
“New 4G Smartphone” means a 4G Smartphone that was not used on the Vodafone network in the last 6 Months.
Any 4G Handset of any manufacturer 15th Sept 2016 TO 31st Dec 2016 (BOTH DAYS INCLUSIVE)
Any customer who has bought a new 4G Handset with a Vodafone SIM need to go Vodafone web portal wherein they have to opt in the free 9GB offer from a link available and when the subscriber gives consent for the free 9GB Offer, he needs to recharge with 1GB or above pack in case of prepaid and in case of postpaid,subscriber has to have 1GB or above rental plans already attached.

- You will receive a One Time Password (OTP) via SMS
- Enter that inside the OTP box on the webpage, and you will get the following message:
Thank you! We’ve noted your request to activate your 9GB data offer. Postpaid customers, expect an SMS in the next 4 hours confirming that your free data has been added for this month! Prepaid customers, your free data will be added within 4 hours of you recharging with an eligible data pack.
I got following messages on submitting the request:
Dear Customer, we have received your request for Data Pack Activation. You will recieve confirmation SMS upon pack activation.
the I received this:
Sorry. Your request for HANDSET OFFER activation is not valid, since you are subscribed to 3G PACK RECURRING. Activate suitable pack or call 199 for further assistance.
then I called 199 and they noted down my issue and after 2-3 hours I received the following SMS:
Hi, Your free 9GB Vodafone 4G Supernet pack is active now, works only with 4G network, data usage on non-4G network will not get deducted from this pack.
Prepaid – 9GB Free Data is Valid for 28 Days only. And maximum a subscriber can avail the 9GB Offer 3 Times Only.
Postpaid – 9 GB Offer is valid for 3 Bill Cycle with a condition that the subscriber
has 1 GB or higher pack throughout the promo Period. VF reserves the right to disconnect the free Data if the base pack is disconnected during the offer period. For Postpaid, the 9 GB Offer is also applicable to IOIP as well as COCP customers provided they are not in a special tariff plan.
Prepaid Packs – 9 GB Free Data is applicable with recharges of 1/2/3/5/7 GB
Unlimited Plans –If the base pack is on throttling in that case 9GB Free Data Pack
will be also on throttling
A. Customers on special Tariff B. Customers on Enterprise Tariff C. Customers on Red Family Plan.
“Subscriber” shall mean: (i) the rightful user of the mobile connection who is either on prepaid or postpaid subscription, in whose name the mobile phone number (MSISDN) is registered with Vodafone India. In the event the user number / connection is registered in the name of a company/ firm, the employee who is authorized to use the MSISDN shall submit a No Objection Certificate (NoC) and authorization of the employer duly permitting the employee to use the number for subscribing for this Offer and accept the terms applicable herein. An active Subscriber shall mean the Subscriber who uses the Subscriber Identity Module (“SIM”) on a regular basis for purposes other than to participate in the Contest or any other contests offered by the Organizer and Vodafone India jointly. Valid Subscriber means having valid Subscription of Vodafone India mobile telephony services as per Law.
